I am over a week late with our monthly update, which feels fitting because when people ask me “Is there any update on the adoption?” My answer is simply “No.” Which feels like such a let down of an answer. I wish I had more to tell you guys! Please know that it means so much that you ask and are cheering us on in the waiting. Just really have no update to give. However, I decided to post today because today is World Adoption Day! Which is an all encompassing day of all the different accepts of adoption – bringing awareness what adoption is about, helping fund-raise funds for adoptions, a day to celebrate families that wouldn’t be a family without adoption, to honor the love and sacrifices and miracles that come with adoption. So, that’s why this month’s photo is me with a smiley face on my hand. If you look up the #worldadoptionday, you’ll seem thousands of others celebrating World Adoption Day! Feel free to join in and share about our adoption story!
This past month I listened to a podcast simply called “Infant Adoption Guide Podcast”, particularly an episode titled “What you need to know about Open Adoption”. I would HIGHLY recommend any of you to listen to this podcast. The host has adopted children and talks to a lady from our agency, who gives great insight on what open adoption is. Our agency did a great job educating us, so the information wasn’t new, but it was a fanatic reminder in the waiting of what we have to look forward to once we get chosen by our birth mother. It’s scary in a lot of ways, but information is power, so the more information, the less scary it seems. I also recently attended my adoption support group and was so excited to see a birth mother who has an open adoption there. When you have conversations with someone who represents a birth mother, and she’s so kind and wants was best for her child, that also makes it all little less scary.
