All I want for Christmas is you... _______________________________________________________________________________
Here I am with another late (this time only a day) update! The big news is that the Tuesday after Thanksgiving was ‘Giving Tuesday’ and you guys took that day to make it the day we hit $25k in our adoption fundraising goal! Which means we only have $2k left to raise! You guys are so generous, so from the bottom of our grateful hearts, thank so much for giving and being a part of our adoption story.
Last month I posted a podcast for you guys to listen to. This month I have a blog post titled “Why I want my son to know his birth family” that I thought was really good, helps make the idea of a birth family less scary. Worth your time if you have it to spare: https://myrealkid.com/2016/10/18/why-i-want-my-son-to-know-his-birth-family/
Last Friday our friends Nick Flora and Stacey Lantz were in Greensboro putting on their fantastic Christmas show. Stacey sang the ever classic Christmas song - "All I Want for Christmas Is You" with her beautiful Adele like voice and softly playing the piano. I started to tear up. It's never been one of my favorite Christmas songs (don't worry its always in my playlist though), because Mariah Carey just makes it... overly sexual, you know? It was the first time that song made me think of our baby. As I sat there listening to Stacey (wish I had filmed it for you all but I was too busy being emotional) sweetly singing, the song took on a whole new meaning. "I just want you for my own. More than you could ever know."
